National launching workshop for the Benin component of the AdaptWAP Project, Natitingou January 6 - 7, 2021

The city of Natitingou, located in the north-western part of the country and bordering the Pendjari Park, hosted the event organized by CENAGREF in collaboration with the African Parks Network.

The event was marked by the participation of the different stakeholders of the AdaptWAP project in Benin (representatives of local populations, project managers and partners, technical services (Environment and livestock), NGOs and associations, prefectures, local politicians, AVIGREF, representatives of the Ministry of the Living Environment and Sustainable Development, CENAGREF, the APN, the DGEFC, the General Directorate for the Environment and Climate, the General Directorate of the National Agency for Civil Protection, the Pendjari and W parks Managers, FSOA, RBT-WAP etc…).

In addition to the project official launch at the national level, the workshop convened an exchange and dialogue meeting in order to validate the transhumance corridors, the water points as well as the grazing areas to be developed on the perimeter of the Pendjari Park and to ensure the involvement of the different key players and stakeholders in the execution of the project activities.

It is worth reminding that the AF-funded AdaptWAP project, aims to promote the integration of adaptation measures to climate change in the coordinated management of the W-Arly-Pendjari transboundary complex through the establishment of a multi-risk early warning system linked to droughts, floods and fires, and the implementation of concrete adaptation measures to face these emergencies.
